Chapter 10: The Second Trial (11/15 Alive)A Chapter by LoganAnd so they returnLike before, we gather around the classroom, only this time it has big, metallic doors. Samael is nowhere to be found, until the door opens. Samael appears to be sitting on a golden chair, a throne, perhaps, except it's about the height of those chairs you see lifeguards sitting on, making sure you don't drown in the town pool. "Welcome back, students! We all knew this was an inevitable occurrence for our game, but we must begin the trial. An 'X' cardboard cutout is now on top of where Jack would be sitting, with a bouquet of flowers in front. We take our seats, and I couldn't help but notice the unusually heavy atmosphere. Nobody speaks for about a minute, until Aaron breaks the silence "Ahem. Landon, Roy, Aisha. You investigated, correct? Then open your damn traps and tell us what the hell happened!" His speech isn't in a way of anger like he attempts to portray it, it sounds almost happy. Like he knows something. "We all know that the murder weapon was the hammer," Mya begins. "it's the only plausible weapon that had blood on it." "Well, that may not be the case," I interject. "The weight also had blood on it." "An easy way to disprove your insane theory that a weight could be used as a weapon, which, mind you, would narrow our suspects to people who could hold the heavy thing and beat someone with it, is by saying that the weight was on the rack. The weight could very easily had blood splash from the body onto the weight." "The weight was right above the bench press seat. However, the weight had quite a lot of blood on it, whilst the bench press seat was spotless. The only 'plausible' explanation, as Mya said, is that the weight was used one way or another." "So you're saying the killer didn't use the hammer at all," Kendrick concludes. "No, it was used somehow, or it wouldn't have any blood on it." But how was it used? That's the question. Is it really a red herring? Did the killer use it to finish them off? Or maybe the weight and hammer were used at the same- "The weight!" I exclaim. "The weight had a smudge mark, as if the killer tried to wipe it off, but stopped for some reason. I can guarantee that the hammer was used to wipe some off to make it look like the murder weapon." "So you're saying that the weight was the weapon," Kendrick starts, "But that means that what Mya said applies as well. And there's not many people who could beat them to death with a heavy weight like that. Landon, you've been awfully quiet and usually the brains of our team. What do you think?" Landon looked up, glaring at Kendrick, and then began. "I've been thinking about Roy's behavior." "My behavior?" I think aloud. "Yes. It's jabbing at me. You and Aaron both sound like you know something. So just say it." "Ah, that. Well, I was planning on saving this for later, but I found some scratch marks on the girders above the body through a reflection on the ceiling." Landon looked ready to kill me, especially given the fact that he gets livid when people hide stuff from him. Then anger turns to thinking, calculation. "All right then." He looks... Weirdly happy. "Well?" Kendrick asks. "Did you figure anything out?" "I believe I did. I know who killed Jack." Mya voices her anxiousness. "Well then, tell us! Who killed him?" "Well, since Roy was so rude as to hide this evidence against me, I won't tell you. You're gonna have to reap what Roy sowed and go the rest of the trial... Without me." © 2025 Logan |
