hands shaking
knees quaking
eyes burning
world turning

smile faking
faith breaking
mind waiting
soul debating

grasp slipping
sun dipping
into the tall grass below

feet planted
words panted
breath f a l t e r e d, "hello"

body broken
only glances spoken

tears feeding into mouth pleading

chest heaving, "goodbye"

mem'ries repeating

time waning

life
