Returning to the Forest

Returning to the Forest

A Poem by John Anthony Fingleton

Yesterday I reached the forest,
And was welcomed by the trees;
Branches bowed,...

Leafs caressed my face -
In union with the breeze.
The recent storm…Yes
It had took its toll;
The old had been knocked down,
While some just leaned precariously,
Against those,that had stood their ground.
I frightened two young ravens,
That screeched high overhead;
Before realising I was not a ghost,
But returning from the dead "
Surviving from the long last search -
Löst dreams on distance shores,
In fact, this journey had made me stronger "
Then all those,I faced had in war.

Nice poem John. I get a feeling of someone who has been battered and bruised, coming back stronger than ever.

Trying too...against the wind.
Sounds like survival of mother nature at her best. Good imagery and well written.

Thanks Willard, it is part of my own survival, a long journey to some place.
