She watched me cry myself to sleep at night
And sit in the corner at school as my peers laugh and play
Wondering why I don’t have any friends
She listened as I sent up a prayer
Wishing for life to get better
She was sent by the man who listened to every word I prayed
And watched as every tear fell down my cheek
Every mean word coming out of their mouths
Yet she did nothing other than listen and pity me
She watched as I started missing school
And not coming home at night
She watched as my grades started to decline
And I got more beatings at home
She watched me turn black and blue
And watched when I quit eating
She watched me turn thin and weak
Until one day she watched me no more
