They aren't meant to understand

they aren't meant to be cool

they wont ever like your "man"

or let you dive into the pool

they will always think she is a s**t

they will always be against you

they wont ever let you slam the front door shut

and they wont ever let you do what you want to do

but what we never see is 

that they really do understand us

in their days they were timeless

and always raised a fuss

they denied that their bff's were s***s

and that that guy would ever leave them

they'd always slam the front door shut

and sneak out to see him

i guess they might just understand

that we just want some freedom

i think they really know who i am

and know who to keep me from

after all what are they but parents
