Miles held the blue ring in his hand. He couldn’t believe that he had been given
the honor of being in the Blue Lantern Corps.
He knew that this would mean that he would have to pull out the double
identity of a super hero while on Earth, but how often do you get to go to the
planet Odym and join forces with the likes of Saint Walker and the Guardian
Ganthet? How often does one get to be an
intergalactic officer powered by the emotion of hope? He hadn’t put the ring on yet, pondering all
that had happened so far. He then put on
the ring, and said the battle cry of the Blue Lanterns
“All will be well.” As soon as he said
this, he was immediately wearing the uniform of a Blue Lantern and a mask that
closely resembled a cross between Iron Man and Batman in order to conceal his
identity on Earth. He was excited. The first thing he did was try and figure out
how to fly, and after several attempts of jumping up and hoping that it would
automatically activate, he finally found out that he needed to simply hope for
things in order to power his ring. He
flew like nobody’s business. Upside
down, sideways, high, low, and so many other variations that could take hours
to describe. As he was flying over the
downtown area, he saw a large number of men with ski masks running out of the
bank with large black bags that were clearly stuffed with money. Miles made a quick look-around in order to
make sure that this wasn’t some publicity stunt or a movie that was being
filmed, and when he was sure, he swooped down and immediately grabbed a few criminals
with large grappling claws. The getaway
car saw this, and immediately floored it.
Before Miles could grab the car as well, another blue claw came out of
the sky and picked it right up off the ground.
As he looked up, he saw two other Blue Lanterns above him. One was Saint Walker himself, the other was
clearly a woman, but it was impossible to tell if she was human or an alien
from another planet. Saint Walker was
giving instruction to the woman, as she slowly brought out the person driving
the car and lined him up with the other criminals that Miles had caught
earlier. Saint Walker descended and
extended his right hand, saying,
“You and your friend here are the first humans to join us. I am honored to say, welcome to the Blue
Lantern Corps.” Miles was honored, and
quickly shook Saint Walkers extended hand.
Saint Walker then gestured to them that it was time for them to go to
space. As they flew up, their masks
began to disappear because they didn’t need them anywhere else other than on
Earth. Miles looked over at the woman
and was shocked by who he saw. It was
none other than…
Miles woke up quickly when his alarm went off. He was fumbling with the items on his
nightstand trying to find his watch in order to turn off the annoying
beeping. As he finally turned it off, he
looked up as his brother slowly got up out of bed. They got up, ate breakfast, and got ready for
school. When Miles tried to remember his
dream last night, all he could remember was that he was a Blue Lantern for a
short period of time. As soon as he got
to school, he soon forgot all about it.
