I wondered once, in quiet thought,
What life would be, what it had brought,
If only hearts could speak out loud.
Not hidden, shy, or lost in crowd.
I think it’d tell you of your light,
How your smile makes the dark feel bright.
It feels your warmth, it knows your name,
It dances softly in your flame.
And maybe then, if hearts could cry,
More souls would follow them, not lie.
For if my heart could form a sound,
It’d scream for me to turn around -
To hear, to feel, to not ignore,
To open wide its quiet door.
The brain, so loud, so sharp, so sure,
Speaks only of what we endure.
It begs us just to play it safe,
To chase survival, not our faith.
But still it forgets what keeps it alive,
The beat, the pulse, the will to strive.
For without the heart, it’s just a shell,
A clever mind, but no farewell.
So I listen close, I write, I try,
To speak the truth that words defy.
Yet as I wondered, lost in view…
I felt it clear;
I wish my heart could do the same too.
The constant battle my mind and heart are in, I chose to follow my heart a few times at first with just the hope fuelling it.
And it's all worth it.
After all the pain it has been through and the scars that were left, our heart still chooses to be as gentle as it ever can be.
And yeah the line " For without the heart, it's just a shell" i really loved it.

It’s not calculated, it’s felt. It’s driven by love, connection, or that quiet trust that maybe, you’ll end up exactly where you’re meant to be.
When we follow the mind, it usually comes with reasons, logic, and caution. But when we follow the heart, it feels like we’re finally trusting ourselves, not knowing the outcome, but being okay with wherever it takes us.
I completely agree: after everything, it’s still worth it.
I’m really glad that specific line spoke to you. Thank you so much for reading and for sharing this comment :)
Good rhyming and deep feeling in this one. The heart can indeed tell us profound things. Yet it has a negative side, too, and we must know when to pull back when it starts speaking.

I’m drawn to poetry because it captures what ordinary language often can’t. For me, it’s a way to sit with emotions, untangle thoughts, and turn fleeting moments into something lasti.. more..
