Loving You

Loving You

A Poem by M 💕

Loving You

To love you is to live on the edge of everything I fear,

And I would rather fall from this impossible height

than never know the feeling of having you near.

You are the gravity that pulls me apart,

Yet I would rather live in pieces

than never own a fragment of your heart.

You are the fire that burns me to death,

Yet I would rather die

than never hear the rhythm of your breath.

You are the nitrogen that chokes me,

Yet I would rather breathe you in

than never listen to the waves of your sea.

To love you is to risk every single thing that I feel,

And I would rather risk that

than never learn that you have always been:

The force that kept me together,

The water that extinguished my fires,

The oxygen that cleansed my lungs,

You were never the darkness-, but always the light within.

This one illustrates clearly the positive/negative nature of romantic love. The speaker is fully aware of the pains this love carries with it, yet at the same time recognizes its value. It appears the relationship will continue, but nothing is really certain.

Wow!

This is a truly heartfelt poem on the "madness" that is love...

You do a great job of engaging the reader here....with longing and desire...
I liked these lines:

You are the fire that burns me to death,
Yet I would rather die
than never hear the rhythm of your breath.

Thanks for sharing...

About
I’m drawn to poetry because it captures what ordinary language often can’t. For me, it’s a way to sit with emotions, untangle thoughts, and turn fleeting moments into something lasti.. more..
