I peeled my orange today

I peeled my orange today

A Poem by mae

I peeled my orange today
and I hope you're proud of me for it
- because I used to not know how -
so I got juice everywhere
you used to do it for me
- because I used to not know how -
and you were happy to help out
you ask me if I ever learned
- because I used to not know how -
but I'll figure it out someday
i want to share this with you
- because I used to not know how -
and I know it's better this way
I peeled my orange today

I read this as a metaphor for learning how to love.
And when we don't know how...we spill it everywhere but where it is supposed to go.
