Always thereA Poem by Elaine Lynn AliceA feeling I've felt before To yearn. To admire. From a distance I watch you fall just as a hope sets into my bones. A love so fast, yet so fleeting. A comfort is made and hope returns How wrong it feels that it's there The small moments Overthought To yearn. To admire. I'm not alone There are others that yearn for you Jealousy and anger Not profound to me Not common either To think I thought love Now I am confused. But why? Is yearning for something that hurts worth it? Pain is love But love does not equate to pain So close to smell the scent of the future Too far to make the future a reality Do you know? Would you think of me like I do of you? I’m told to move on Something about you keeps me steady on the thought of us But why? There is so much pushing me away But yet I stay To yearn. To admire. Never to touch Never to hold I watch everyone have what I desire Never what I desire do I receive Never the right Everyone has their right Their hope Their desire I watch with a smile so bright And eyes filled with happiness But welling with tears Internal tears never to be shed I want something I've never had To always yearn. To always admire. © 2025 Elaine Lynn AliceAuthor's Note
