ShadowsA Story by magicwhisperA growl, a whimper a mighty roar! As she slashes, attacks bites, But please have no fear, for she is a gentle dear, Until someone threatens the pack, They run, they helplessly scamper, Down the long dirt track, She stands she watches until they disappear, Leaving not a shadow behind. She hears a whimper - a start of a cry, Fear sets in setting anger aside, Away she turns forgetting the attacker, For that whimper however small is as loud as ever within her
ear. She runs, gallops as quick as can be, To behind the giant
looming oak tree, There lies a tot no bigger than me, He cries - she goes over to comfort him, A snuggle, a cuddle a kiss on cheek, Whatever ailed him is now long gone, As he snuggles on mums knee. The pride gather round in the late evening sun, Play and chatter they all have fun, Under the great looming oak tree. As the evening draws on i can't help but see not all is well
over the sea, No one else notices, no one else sees, how the change in her
face comes to be. For the shadows are now cast upon the brave one, You see a sweep of fear as she looks at her young one, Whom is now fast asleep under the big oak tree, Quickly a barrier she casts as the shadows come over, Her power the ore it protects her young one. Her strength now half gone she runs but knows she cannot hide, As the shadows now are right behind. They hit they attack how vicious they are, They quickly cover a lot of ground. She cowers in wait as she knows the drill, They attack as she cries, whimpers in pain, They take over her mind, ruling her brain. The darkness takes over, the fog comes in. Oh fight brave one, fight it I beg I scream, Don’t forget the ones you hold dear, The tiny ones don't need to see it so near, How it takes over your head, ruling your brain. The light think of it dear, You cry, you scream you want to fight, But it dawns upon you it’s a personal fight. One that no one but you and her can even hear. She cries, she roars, you sense the fear, As to give up, to
ignore and forget, die in the fight, We will always be here the shadows seem to whisper in her
ear. She looks to the side and sees him there, fast asleep over there, The tot he needs her not to die. To not only to survive but to live and to keep her by his
side, For his life is just beginning. The shadows, they scream, they realise, and she now has
little fear, For the cub will always be near. To protect her honour, her pack, her cub she must. They go, the scamper, for tonight they did not win. She smiles, she stands for she knows the battle tonight is
won. The war within still continues, you hear her silent scream, But for now she is safe only sore. You hear in the wind - she whispers to you as you go to
disappear, "For you should have no fear I am a gentle dear, Until someone threatens my pack" © 2016 magicwhisper |
