Ownership Does Not Imply Fault

Just because you own the decisions, the choices, that does not make you at fault. That does not mean that blame is inevitable.

I scribble this stray thought
of what my mind has wrought.
Never granting the desires I've sought,
but the practicality of what I ought.
My life with chaos and turmoil fraught;
a wire - of trouble and pain - taut.
It is mine, what I have bought;
I have it upon my own head brought.
I've strayed from the "lessons" I was taught,
and now, by "protector's" "justice", been caught.
But this irresistible force I cannot halt;
I will not blame myself, it is not my fault
that I have for every choice fought.

Author's Note

Choice, wrong or right, always mine. I accept that I could have made better choices - but am past that now. The choices made cannot be re-made, they cannot be changed, thus they are the only choices left, thus are as right as they can be. At least, they are mine. I fought for them, I took them, and I can face each day knowing I made them - no one else did, and I can look back without wondering what could have been if I had not been able to decide on my own.
