Someone Asked Me

Someone Asked Me

A Poem by A. B. Hopkins
"

Just a silly love poem.

"

Someone asked me if I had ever been in love.

I had spent some time there in my youth,

Took some photographs that I’ve since lost in a series of moves.

Just fading memories now of a smile that didn’t mind how long my eyes lingered.

“Fantastic place to visit”, I replied.

“Shame they don’t let you live there.”

love can be a few nuggets of gold in a cold, muddy river where we spend most of our time slogging though pails of mud and gravel...searching for it

I have a couple old photo albums...exes...sometimes I would like to visit there...
They each have an affect on me in some way...They all contribute to the words I write.

The comparison of love to a place is brilliant. Places change and so can love, and sometimes you have to leave.
