SlideA Poem by A. B. HopkinsStatistically 29% of all sexual assault of adult women were perpetrated by a husband or lover. If you are one of these women, know that you are not alone.I’m not ready for the morning. I don’t want to face the sun. I can’t take his warmth upon me now, Shivering to the bones. I can’t string the words together, To express the cold inside. If I could admit Spring to this Winter, I would. If I can just freeze here, Pause here, Frame it all through logical eyes. I could die here. Wilt here. Maybe even let it all slide… My shadow could breathe fire. My cobwebbed corners all aflame. Hand grenades and ashes And I can’t feel a thing. They’ll call it frigid. And I will call it numb. That I can watch it all burn, And still be ice. If I can just stop here, Lie here, I would tell you that it’s fine. I could stay stuck here. Freeze here. Maybe even let it all slide… © 2021 A. B. HopkinsReviews
