Tree

Tree

A Poem by marcus

  Silently rooted,

  in darkness towers
  this majestically-old

  insomniac's vision.

  History-etched bark;

  its old trunk

  yet bolstering

  youthful leaves,
  rustling to rhythms

  of a midnight's breeze.

  With ancient base

  still replenishing its canopy,

  sprawling branches

  framed by night,
  visions of life

  outlasting …

  my own.

To be a tree, the things we'd see.
The story each ring would tell.
If you read the rings you'd see some history there.
Resilience, living through flood and famine...

I liked your last stanza particularly. It gives the poem a rooted theme.

thank you!
You made the into some type of consolation for the fragility of life. Very interesting and the spacing added a feel of some type of elongated vision. Great job

when we are long gone there are others, stronger than we who will carry on, the most ancient can be the most wise, and have the strongest roots.

ancient, unwavering watching over the birth, life and death of many...a great description of the tree..
