My Muse

My Muse

A Poem by maricoona91
"

Your big long nose, it blows my whistle, baby!

"
When you danced into my lonely life
The smell of Spring was in your hair
Your blue sky eyes and strawberry smile
My heart a thumpin' 60 miles an hour
You prance around like a fawn or a fairy
and your thighs (oh my) don't even dare me,
so please be mine, I'll keep on trying
You set my soul to flyin'
Chorus: But you know that I'm just a broken down piano,
played by too many hands,
When you touch a key, you'll see,
There ain't no melody,
but you've got the key in your hand!
You've got a Shug Avery kind of sin,
But you're a little young, to my chagrin,
You make my imagination go wild,
I mean..You awaken my inner child,
And your white cotton shirt must be spun by the gods
'Cuz on you it's like satin and I want to applaud,
Your big long nose it blows my whistle,
and baby, you can blow my whistle anytime
But your fairy language I can't understand,
Words as foreign as Shakespeare's prose,
So don't say a word it just ruins the mood!
But you can teach me the language of your tongue (ooh lala!)
Chorus:But you know that I'm just a broken down piano,
played by too many hands,
When you touch a key, you'll see,
There ain't no melody,
but you've got the key in your hand!
Chorus 2:
And you know that I am just a fool,
Waiting around for you, my muse,
You kissed me once, and then I played you a tune
You had no idea, it was all about you!

This is a song I wrote inspired by a (Georgian) dancer who I had an almost romance with. Didn't work out, but I wound up with this cute little jazzy song.
Thanks for reading!

"give me a song you're the piano man, give us a song tonight"

just as we ask the muse to visit us with a poem---with some lyrics we can pluck out of the air and put on paper...

THanks for reading, Jacob.
Most muses don't realize their huge impact on the imagination of an artist/writer. They might be real but they inspire a deity of themselves in the artist's mind. A muse is a beautiful, entrancing, perfect figment of the imagination--which you captured here.

Well, I can't know the tune, but the words are well-written, sweet and sing-able. Nice work.
