"

Mostly just dialogue, something I just had to play out in words; possibly part of a bigger work soon?

"

“You need a twin,” she laughed.

“Why’s that?” he asked curiously.

“Because I need one of your for me!” she laughed.

He grinned at her and she smiled and turned her head away.

“Are you trying to tell me something?” he asked, smiling.

“You’re a good catch. She’s very lucky to have you,” she said.

“Why, thank you. You’re a pretty good catch yourself,” he leaned toward her as he spoke.

“Not really, but thanks,” she said humbly.

“I’m serious. If I wasn’t with Shay and you weren’t with whoever you were with. . . “

“I’m not with anyone.”

“What?”

“I’ve been single this whole time. . .”

“You used to talk about your boyfriend, didn’t you?”

“Well, he’s not my boyfriend anymore. We broke up but we’re still close.”

“Do you still sleep with him?”

“That’s not any of your business.”

“True. Sorry. But, seriously, you’re single?”

“Yeah, but it’s not like it changes anything.”

“Hm. You never know.”

“Well you aren’t gonna break up with your girlfriend of three years and you’re not going to cheat on her either. So, yeah, it doesn’t matter.”

“How can you assume so much?”

“Well are you going to break up with her?”

“No”

“I didn’t think so--”

“But that doesn’t mean I can’t, ya know. . .”

“You’re saying you would cheat on her?”

“Cheat is such a harsh term.”

“But it’s what it is.”

“Yeah… I mean I wish there was a way…”

“Don’t we all? But I wouldn’t let you cheat on her--with me anyway.”

“Why not?”

“I’m a nice girl. I’m not going to be a homewrecker. Do you realize the wrath I’d face if she--or anyone-- found out? I’d never be welcome here again. I’d have to leave for sure.”

“No one has to find out.”

“I’m not going to trust you or do something stupid so yeah--still not going to happen. No matter what you say, it doesn’t change anything.”

He grabbed her hand and pulled her close. “I want you” he whispered to her. She turned her head away from him but didn’t move her body.

“No” she gasped but he brought her closer still to him.

“I know you want me too--I can feel it in you.”

“I want more than this. I want more than I can have--than I’ll ever have. I don’t want just a fling.” Tears were welling in her eyes.

“We might have potential--we have to test the waters first,” he begged.

“Wow you sound like such an a*s,” she laughed.

“Forgive me, I am sometimes. But I still want you and I’m not giving up.”

“I won’t let you be a cheater.”

“Don’t be so moral.”

“It’s who I am. I’m not going to be a homewrecker! Don’t make me do this, I’ll resent you forever.”

“Fine. If you are going to make this complicated, I’ll . . . I’ll break up with her.”

“What?” she looked him in the eyes suddenly, searching for the truth.

“I need to have you, and I’ll do whatever I have to.”

“No, it’d still be my fault. Everyone would hate me.”

“You don’t understand how much I need to have you. I will make things right, no one will even know I’m leaving her for you! She will never suspect there’s another girl.”

“Then what are you going to tell her?”

“I’ll tell her I don’t feel it anymore.”

“It’s going to devastate her! I just can’t bear it. I know it will hurt her so much, and I just can’t do it!”

“Don’t you feel it though? Don’t you want me too?”

“I do. I always have. I’ve always felt something for you.”

“Then let it be! You have to let us be together! Please!” He held her close and turned her face towards his with his hand. “Anna please don’t fight what we have. I won’t hurt you, I promise.”

She cried into his shoulder. “I don’t know if I can. . .”

“I’ll wait for you; you mean that much to me. I just don’t know how long I can last without you,” he laughed softly.

She looked up into his eyes. “Just take care of things with her, and then we can be together,” she whispered.

He tilted her face up more and leaned down, softly touching his lips to hers. He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. She buried her head in his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist.

Just a dialogue. I know I jump from one part to the next; when an idea is in my head I just have to get it down!
