Wipe the dirty window pane
With the sleeve of your shirt
Your work worn face
Reflects on glass
Thats cracked like them ol' days
Sit around the fire
Telling stories of them good times
Hair smells like ash
As you burn bridges
And wave goodbye
To the passerbys
Of the life you choose to leave behind
Peering out of a dirty window pane
Wondering if maybe its you who went insane
But the soot is caked so deep
And you're having trouble seeing
Far beyond the layer of dust
You let sit for far too long
And the train keeps amovin'
Whether you like it or not
Time ain't gonna stop
Like it used to when you looked into the eyes
Of another pretty face
So instead you watch the mountains
As they pass you by
A moment in time
Left behind, on the other side
Of a dirty window pane
