Forever.....?

Most of my poems don't make much sense... And they're all pretty short.

 I’ve been crying all the day today,

And these burning tears can’t be wiped away.

No matter how hard I try to get on with my life,

I keep having dreams of you being my wife...

 

I always used to dream of you,

And even now that fact is still true.

It’s funny, how when I look back on this endeavor;

that was a very short forever.

I love the last two lines. I usually have problems when people feel as though poetry is required to rhyme. It often come off sounding sing-songy and taking away from the meaning and depth of a poem. When I first read though this I had that problem. And then I read it a few more times. I guess thats a round about way of saying that you managed to avoid that problem. And your poems certainly do make sense. And there isn't anything wrong with short poetry!! I'm quite enjoying your stuff so far.

This is deep and very sad.. to think you dream of someone who you like to still have as your wife and calling it a short forever.. touches my soul completely!!! Yet I think many yearn for someone years later as we many do find "you don't know what you have until it's gone"..this can become a problem for moving on to a happier life with someone you love who loves you.. Thank you for sharing as I have known this feeling too... ;)

wow. i really like this poem!!! it is really great and as a girl i think its cool that guys would write a poem about loving a girl. real nice!
