Gone

I imagined what earth might be like with no more humans around.

Mountains pierce

the shadows of the night,

where patterns of stars

are emissaries

from a mightier power.

Ice crystals embower

the earth that

 a rabid red sun

will devour in time.

But we are all long gone,

beyond the ebony curtain

balancing on the periphery,

where nothing is certain

holding eternity

within

our grasp.
