The Promise

A poem about nature's magical ability to renew itself.

Raspberry ripple

sunset.

A banquet

of golden leaves.

Stout soldier trees

reaching for the sky.

Frozen earth

crunching,

brittle underfoot.

Slash

of  mountain

divides heaven

from earth.

And then

the rain comes

to bathe

it all

in an infinity

of droplets,

prismed

with rainbows,

refracted

in stardust,

holding promise

of new life.
