Alan the Aardvark's Groovy Experience in King Timothy Leary's CamelotA Poem by mrlennonWhat happens when an aardvark takes some LSD? It's a trip to experience that's for sure.Alan the aardvark walked the traveled way The lining streets of the bustling metropolis And though he did not know where he would end up, He knew for a fact that something big would pop up One day, a normal gassy one at that, fate chanced A magician cast in a silk robe and a kaleidoscope monocle Came before Alan and said unto him these words: "Tis the time you must mount a steed and go far from here Far away to the distant lands of King Timothy Leary's Camelot" "But sir!" said Alan, "are you not a magician? How do you know?" The magician declared: "I am Gustavo, I know all that is worthy"
And so Alan took a trip to the local farm and purchased a steed Not to large, small enough to fit his quadruped symmetry And the neck had to be long enough to comfort his flapping nose To Camelot! It's cellophane flowers and tangerines from greenery! To paradise! Or so the magician claimed and Alan had heard
The frigid road up the peak was harsh to Alan's ill prepared hairs With his hooves he tightly gripped the horse's blanket mane It was a miserable trot as he felt the stabbing air on his tail Finally, they reached the peak with a rainbow flag and a mighty crown The border's of King Timothy Leary's Camelot had been found! He could see the violet hazy air in the valley below, the white castle The forests of yellow and turquoise trees plus the tower of the Loraxes It was a sight below worth a smile, and a smile indeed happened upon Alan But as soon as the climb down began, weakness struck him once more
But the cold was too much for our aardvark friend, and he fell hard In the blowing snow, he laid there shivering as he began to wither Just before he closed his eyes, he heard a whisper: the magician! "Open your mouth my mammal compadre, and taste the fruit of Camelot" And so Alan struggled his mouth open and in went a piece of paper He closed it, and suddenly he jumped from his soon to be grave roaring: "I see the light, the dawn, the god! I see his majesty! King Leary!"
And down the mountain he ran, like no aardvark had done before or since All four legs almost galloped the entire way down and the entire way, His eyes fluttered as his body shook from the power that he felt Before he knew it, there he was, in the center of a Camelot he had heard He stopped to catch his breath and once he did, the area around him spun Not fast, but slowly he fell into a trance of psychedelic wonder He could smell colors, taste the air, swim through the ground as his mind Took a trip through the all knowing power of something he had just taken
He yelled aloud, "What is this that I feel? How can I live this way forevermore?!" Smiles greeted him and one called out aloud: "Our King, King Timothy Leary!" All came before him, and dropped small squares of blotter paper of it laced heavily He laughed, smiled, cackled at the experience of it all as it flowed through him He felt at one with God, at peace of Allah, and finally met Yaweh at the large doors Of altered perceptions and fluctuating waves of spiritual consciousness
Then, in the midst of his enlightenment, he collapsed to the ground violently A stream of drool trickled from his mouth and he had the look of starry eyes And finally, he had broken on through to another side of existence not of this world Like all before him, and like all to come in the future, all went to Camelot To discover themselves as much as escape from the chain's their lives warranted In the end, they all, just like Alan, fell from the teetering pedestal that is life At the feet of a mocking King Timothy Leary and his Lysergic acid Camelot © 2011 mrlennon |
