Heart Of The SparrowA Poem by LonerI heard the beat of the sparrow's heart. It was a rhythm I knew before. Motionless, I sat in the blackened hour, before the dawn, listening to the faint pulses of this timeless bird.
Silence fell about my tongue.
Awe gripped my ribs.
My eyes squinted inquisitively as this sparrow gazed upon me with the same inquisition.
My lips parted.
Sparrow's mouth agape.
The beat of her heart persisted. Drowned my ears.
Sparrow beat to the beauty of my life. Sparrow trance my mind. Sparrow steal my eyes. Turn this man to boy and make me forget all that I was before. © 2008 LonerReviews
