Heart Of The Sparrow

Heart Of The Sparrow

A Poem by Loner

I heard the beat of the sparrow's heart.

It was a rhythm I knew before.

Motionless, I sat

in the blackened hour,

before the dawn,

listening to the faint pulses of this timeless bird.

Silence fell about my tongue.

Awe gripped my ribs.

My eyes squinted inquisitively

as this sparrow gazed upon me

with the same inquisition.

My lips parted.

Sparrow's mouth agape.

The beat of her heart persisted.

Drowned my ears.

Sparrow beat

to the beauty of my life.

Sparrow

trance my mind.

Sparrow steal my eyes.

Turn this man to boy and make me forget all that I was before.

Ooo, you laid it all out in form. I don't know which way I like it more. It still leaves me speechless no matter what.

Is this like finally realizing the beauty of something that was present all along?

About
I've been declining into a state of moral and social decadence, only to rise again, and to seethe again. Stepping through each day in a perpetual ebb and flow, I dance from the chaotic to the sublime... more..
