A Poem by Michael Sun Bear
"

Coming home

"

HOME

I park.

I thumb the lock

Of my sweetheart.

A few steps through the night

And I hear the

Hoo Hooo Hoo Hooo

Of our Great Horned Owls.

Unable to help myself

I crane my neck to scan the trees

But see only the dark silhouettes

Of hundred year old firs and cedars.

Again

Hoo Hooo Hoo Hooo,

The heartwarming call of

Welcome home.
