Hi Jim, thanks for looking at my new project, teaching myself to write haiku. Die before you die refers mainly to letting go of the ego, to which all our conditioning is tied, all our misunderstandings of Reality are tied, our fears are tied, etc. That whole bundle of crap has been referred to as the False Self. Our True Self, the eternal, core being is hidden under all the garbage while in this life in this body. If one can liberate the True Self, without actually going through physical death, one may function at a much higher level.
