For You DearA Poem by Michael Sun BearA loving tribute to a poetI still play Janis Ian Could never leave her behind I found you in your words You are my gypsy of the wind, The winter, the barren tree koan And croak of crow You are the cat at my feet, The book, the fire spitting embers, The rocking rhythm of my chair You sang a rain of stars Placed the moon upon my mantle Such a harvest of words Of climes and lands near and far Fruits collected in your poet’s peasant skirt Line by line you wove your words The beauty of your tapestry Drew me closer, closer Now enchanted bound Your words I came to crave Each a scrape of taryak You my long pipe’s smoke My addiction ever more And more So I watched the movie Like a first date finally it felt I kept reaching for your hand In my darkened room But I bore the story’s sadness Bare of sharing Give me your hand in summer At the wheel of a fast car With the top down Let us speed everywhere and nowhere Our two hearts the map As we crank up the radio And sing and sing And sing © 2025 Michael Sun BearReviews
