Creator Weeps

Creator Weeps

A Poem by Michael Sun Bear
"

A plea of humanity

"

She made us

So through our eyes

She could view the beauty

Of her every creation

From stone to mountain

Leaf to forest canopy

Microbe to running herds

She weeps for us

Cease the nonsense

The hate, the killing

Genocide

Within our hearts

She left a jeweled chamber vast

Where she hid the Secret

A chalice for us to polish

Not let rust with misuse

Meant to hold only her love

That we then pour into the world

If your heart

Be not scarred by the sorrow, fear

And pain of others

She names you not a human being

Stop turning away

We have a duty

Give, give, give of yourself

Then give even more

She weeps for us

She made our hands strong

To finger the strings upon

The lute of love

To grasp the hand

Of fellow beings

Reach out to those in need

With open palms to feed

Every type of hunger

Let her smile for us

A most lovely poem close to my heart in its message. I try to live in harmony with nature seeing few people in the midst of nature surrounded by tropical forest I appreciate the birds, flowers and animals and try not to intervene (except to swat an occasional mosquito or fly) This poem speaks to man's needed relationship to nature. Well done

Raw, fierce, and bleeding with truth—your words don’t just whisper, they shove the heart awake. Keep polishing that chalice; the world’s thirst won’t wait.

Once upon a time, a crazy, talented poet from across the Salish Sea told me of an intense dream she experienced in which she was given a strange title for a poem, but nothing more. She felt it import.. more..
