Do you hear poets near?

Do you hear poets near?

A Poem by Michael Sun Bear
"

Poets

"

Some of us offer

A long-stemmed pour

A sparkling vintage

Of word champagne

A short pour adequate

With its sweet bite

Upon the tongue

(And ear here)

All of you

I have read for the

Intimacy of occasional lines

So brilliant

It’s like mainlining words

Straight to the brain’s

Pleasure Center

Others,

I plead guilty,

Offer quick furtive pulls

Of the hard stuff

Drunk straight from the

Bottles hid

In closets, drier,

Toilet reservoir

We force the words to

March on, but often

The words race ahead

Dragging us through

A garbage dump

Of memories

Is this fun?

Hell yes!

Wouldn’t it be boring if the same drink was served at the bar day after day. Thank goodness for poetry and the wide variety on offer. Bring on the poets. Much enjoyed Michael.

Love it. I have always found myself loving exploring poetry sites for bits of poetic wonder, and probably always will. I love how varied the uses of the English language are when it comes to poets (and their license). ~Jim

This feels like a barroom confession dressed up as poetry—equal parts elegance and chaos, and honest about both.
There’s a raw joy in it, like you’re not just writing the words—you’re chasing the high they leave behind.

Thank you Thomas, there is some raw joy as you put it, joy in just letting it all hang out

Once upon a time, a crazy, talented poet from across the Salish Sea told me of an intense dream she experienced in which she was given a strange title for a poem, but nothing more. She felt it import.. more..
