Roots

Roots

A Poem by misha

A good story never has a moral.

That is why

this is not a good story.

Junior year of high school,

I rescued strangers' abandoned

plants grown over

the course of a month

in biology class.

I buried their roots in my garden

and thought of etymology

and thought of what to write

and thought in words

and watered them

somewhat.

They've died since.

I know nothing

when it comes to plant

care.

I have a friend

who says

I know a lot

about Latin.

I am not sure

why she says this.

If you try to find

the moral here,

you'll drive yourself insane.

In the spirit of morality,

I'll grant you release:
