So long agoA Poem by Megan MichelleMissing what once was.A fleeting glance sends shivers, ghosts of shared touches. I lower my head,
hair falling over my eyes, a cover. The sight of you is too much to bare. My
breathing stops short, heart caught in my throat. I had envisioned this
encounter many times before. We would awkwardly embrace each other, whispering
small talk. Perhaps making promises of more to come. But, this? This is not at
all what I expected. My limbs shake at thoughts of your body, a body that use to
create a fire within mine. I turn to a puddle when I catch a glimpse into your
green eyes. Part of me wants to reach out, reach out and grab the hand that fit
into mine like a missing puzzle piece. Alas, I do not. I hide. I hide behind my
veil of hair. I hide behind what use to be. © 2013 Megan Michelle |
