Just usA Poem by Megan Michelleonly us
We painted a picture of a cross country road trip.
We packed light, to keep on the move, filling the car with hopes and dreams. We ran away from our problems. We lived vivaciously, so care free. We survived on love and 7/11 slurpees. We robbed convenience stores of cheap souvenirs and postcards. Through daylight hours, we soaked up the atmosphere, catching local attractions. Exhausted, we made pit stops at cheap motels on the sides of dusty roads. We'd lose track of time tangled up in each other. When dawn broke, we were on to a different city, using a different identity. There was no pre-determined destination. There was just us, only us. © 2013 Megan Michelle |
