When Winter Bid Summer Goodbye

When Winter Bid Summer Goodbye

A Poem by Amelie

Her livid lips urge to release a word of plea to Winter’s ashen heart.

But what would untold words do any remedy to her famished heart

... whispering odes of a lovelorn to Luna’s darkly ebony cape.

Her eyes of burning sapphire turned stone cold

Her golden flux hair fell limp to her feet, planted on the deceitful crust

Her bright saccharine smiles faded away

… gone with the golden lilies.

Her hopes, boundless and unceasing as the Utopian sky, await for Winter’s chilling touch.

Ages went by, civilizations rose and fell…

her hopes, once boundless and unceasing as the Utopian sky, came crashing down... a ghastly star, seething deep in the sinful crust.

Her once warm, life- giving rays brought death to the mortals

Her spittle of molten lava incinerated everything that spoke of love

Hatred and melancholy, concocted perfectly.

And to what dismay? Winter’s kiss never again landed on her sunflower- petal cheek

Nor did she ever again shiver from his arctic touch.

Hatred emblazoning her chariot, as she strides within lies

 … lies she never knew

... lies, Winter knew none of

But one thing could not have been truer

Death was never a death of a yearning, a yearning that came by fleeting

Words untold, stories retold

Or was that reality…

was never meant to be spun by their fate's thread.

Brilliant poem! It was absolutely amazing! The description and flow were great and so was the choice of words. The imagery was stunningly clear. The cover was awesome:) loved it, keep writing!

Nice job with the art--you both are talented. Second line sounds a bit unfocused grammatically... not sure if just the order of words. Great grasp of imagery. The structure works quite well with this poem--perfect blend of structured and free-verse.

this piece places my mind into an altered state
I should have expected it, but I didn't
and that's what makes it all the more profound
well done

your word execution is flawless, but it's the effect that is something you cannot teach

Lovely write , great choice of words love the lines
But one thing could not have been truer

this is wonderful - and definitely has that "Mythical flavor" to it. Beautiful imagery - I especially liked "gone with the golden lilies" and "Spittle of molten lava. "
