Coming BackA Poem by melbykinsThis is a poem about the way my world changed when a life-shaking event came into it...Coming Back The world used to be my oyster. Give it to me, I said, and it was mine. I sat back idly and let it all come to me. I told myself everything was just dandy and fine. I lost it all a few years ago. Nothing went the way I’d planned. I was in agony day and night. My cruise ship through life was now unmanned. I screamed, I cried, I begged for help. The world did not answer me this time. It mocked me with its rejection. It told me it would talk to me some other time. I learned that the world just keeps on moving. It doesn’t slow down or stop for anyone. We are all small cogs in a big, faceless machine. We are played with at someone else’s fun I now know that whatever happens will happen because of me. I no longer lay back and let my spoils pour into my lap. It has been a tough lesson to learn, for sure. But one I needed so I didn’t fall into life’s great gap.
