Just to Dream

Don't you ever wish

just to dream,

no one to hold you back?

Just to dream...

and not have someone tell you

that you're crazy,

or that it will never happen?

Just to dream,

and let your dreams

carry you away,

just to dream some more.

I like the repetition of 'dream'; it really emphasises the want to dream. Also, I think the questions make the poem more engaging because it makes the reader stop and actually ask those things of themselves. Also, I like the elipses after the first 'just to dream' When I read that line, the grammar made me slow my reading down so I ended up reading it like I was day dreaming. A short but effective poem.

don't we all wish to just be able to dream forever?!!! a nice little poem displaying something we'd all love to be able to do!! it also has many layers - the obvious to dream - but also the idea of aspirations - dreams to achieve!! dream high and take nothing lower!!
