Dying

Dying

A Poem by linear

It's funny how the emotions first wrapped around me
Like a fragrance from a childhood memory.

The touch, your tracings of light fingertips
Over responsive and tactile skin.

But it was all so short
Spring, summer and then the fall
The swirling of dying leaves and you drifted away
Why did I not notice?

Emotions change, grow into things I cannot tell
I was impotent, not able to hold you, keep you safe from harm.

And I just watched as the dying leaf fell......

I always find regret in dying things...plants, animals, relationships, loved ones. I wonder why there is always a guilt of not having done or been enough. Why it can't be okay to just have touched that life for a minute or a second ...that being just the right amount of love, time, or appreciation. I am sorry for your loss...I wish there were words to say that could help ease the feeling of sorrow. I can only leave you with the moments that I have read this piece and pondered on the need to release sadness. You have made me feel something, ty

I love the protective quality in this write although it seems to have feelings of letting someone down or being unable to protect them, you can't you know, you cant protect someone from heart ache or from evil intentions, Only love can do that.

This hurts real good. Captures hindsights wisdom in all its angst. Gives a voice to the dark grieving rooms in my heart. Leaves me feeling sad but also moved. You have talent.
