Daybreak

Daybreak

A Poem by Undying Glory
"

Something we all take for granted...and my own take on it

"
Daybreak

I look at my watch.
It's time.
As I watch, the deep blue skies
Slowly turn violet,
The colour of the flowers
That dot my backyard.
The first golden strands of light shine through,
across the distant horizon,
Illuminating all that I see
Along the distant shoreline,
Banishing the foreboding picture
the trees in the park paint at night,
And casting its radiant glow upon
The dull, dreary chalet houses nearby.
Crimson the sky soon becomes,
The harbinger to the coming day,
And the sun peeks out from the horizon,
And I can imagine it saying,
"Good morning!" to the world.
Yet the good-natured, spectacular greeting to all
Is ignored time and again
By the grey-clad people with big suitcases,
On their way to
Another boring day at work.

Nice job...so many times I have ignored the beauty of the sun coming up...a great reminder to enjoy the glow of the day.

The presence of day, indeed something we take for granted, such little things we member mostly. Nice imagery you depicted. Nicely done.

Cheers for the read,

I love the imagery. I love the ending how it changes from the beauty of nature to the inattentive suitcase carriers. :) i look forward to me reading a lot of your work past and present.

Great write. You painted a beautiful picture and expression of feelings in a sunrise. Both for the world and your soul.

A very beautiful picture you paint here, as usual. No patterned stanzas, no patterned rhyme. This has a nice flow to it and I'm sure plenty of people have already told you about the imagry. Good job.

I love this! You captured the image and feel of daybreak so beautifully, and then ended it with the sad truth that so many people miss out on this. I love sunsets and sunrises. They are some of the most beautiful things to watch, yet we miss them because we're so focused on other things. Great work.

I love the imagery and message of this poem. If only people would look around them and see the beauty in everything. . . .

I tell the children. Have fun when you are young. Days of long vacations and a lot of fun don't come often in this life. I like the poem. Started off with a positive picture. Then left us with the robots on their way to work. A excellent poem.
