Twilight MedicationA Poem by mhylandsA tri-ality piece. Trying to intentionally weave three different meanings in from my own self while writing. Later became the influence for the lyrics of one of my songs. The calm breeze crafts a sense of
ecstasy, Losing track of all I ever
thought to be. The illustrious moon beams down
upon my face, A new dawn it can surely
guarantee.
The heavens embrace me in their
gentle hold, They bring me joy to the greatest
degree. Surely this is just an ethereal
conception, This perfection makes the world
impossible to comprehend…
What is it that hides behind this
illusion? Can I even break down this
façade?
I glance around me, noticing what
looks like a world unspoiled, Yet I can see my own body decayed
and bloodied. This sanctuary should not be
tainted by my imperfection, But nothing appears to stir while
I seem to wither away.
Drifting in and out of a daze,
I'm met with a wave of confusion, Everything lacks feeling and a
sense of existence. I can see everything so clearly,
still I become overwhelmed, By the hollowed stimulation. I know I'm not insane...
This twilight medication
transforms the mind into a state of chaos, Mystifying any conventions
acknowledged and anticipated. Perfection is but a dream,
unattainable and surreal, A naive hypothesis that shall
never be proven feasible.
A fire grows within, I feel sick,
and soon I will break, What hell has been presented
before me? Where is the light? It has been eclipsed by something
unfamiliar and terror arises, Tragedy cannot describe this
experience...
What is it that hides behind this
illusion? [Death, deceit, and
unforgiveable transgressions] Can I even break down this
façade? [And reveal the dark truth of
reality?]
The sky cries blood, staining my
skin, but I can finally feel it. The calamity of death stagnates
the air, but I can finally smell it. The fires roar as they tear apart
all that was, but I can finally hear it. The anticipation for what is next
is what I will treasure most, And I can finally taste the sweet
delicacy of a future imperfect. © 2014 mhylands |
