Just A Girl

Just A Girl

A Poem by Michael Hess
"

A song I just sat down and wrote one day.

"

She may like you a bit,

But she treats you like s**t,

And you really don't get

Her ideas.

You're ready to quit

'Cause you fell in a pit

And you're losing it all

For her now.

Don't get all sad,

She's just a girl.

Don't get all sad,

She's just a girl.

You gotta hold in your smoke

When you take a toke

And you laugh at her jokes,

Though they're all bad.

A round of whiskey and cokes

For my friends and their folks

And then I'll make a toast

To those who told me

Don't get all sad,

She's just a girl.

Don't get all sad,

She's just a girl.

You may not see it now,

But there are other ones out there.

Just look way out in the crowd.

Stop for a minute

And you'll find something in it

That'll make you wonder

"How'd I miss this?"

"How'd I miss this?"

Don't get all sad,

She's just a girl.

Don't get all sad,

She's just a girl.

Don't feel bad,

You'll find another girl.

I realize that just from reading the lyrics of this song, the repetitive rhyming sounds like it's too much, but it fits with the tune of the song. I do have problems with this song such as the chorus, which I find to be too short and redundant. But if you have any suggestions or ideas, feel free to let me know.

I don't know about "My Sharona" like Gemm stated, I get more of a "And the Band Played On" kind of a feel. But to each his/her own. Being a lyricist myself, I'd like to hear it in music someday. Give it a good rhythm and/or a catchy hook and it will be a success. :)

the song has this "My Sharona" feel... it's kinda good by itself, i don't think you should still change the chorus... :)
