Dream

Dream

A Poem by michaela

The most cherished object of a person exists in the form of an inherent idea- one born into the heart of a person without knowledge of when or why. This is a passion to which the heart is drawn, an idea so powerful that it is emblazoned upon both mind and heart. A dream.
The moments described as "day dreaming" are the moments when one is most himself or herself, and is most aware of the purpose he or she has come to recognize as personal. The moments when the mind wanders are always beautiful, as it is then that the mind goes to meet the heart. Wherever the heart belongs, the ideals, passions and loves that are placed within it are met by the mind, allowing awareness of these innate beauties to be formed. The intrinsic, passionate longing for a difference in some form- a change in the world, or within oneself- is the nature of a dream. Children are most aware of these dreams, given time and energy to focus towards making such fantasies into reality. There are dreams within each of them, some of which that may contradict each other, but thoughts that the heart is devoted to all the same. It is through these dreams that a person is truly realized and defined. Dreams define our values and interests, and are shaped by the world in which we live, based on our want to conform with it, or to deviate from it.Optimistically believing in the attainment of this is how the world is changed. Dreams are written in the stars, permanently and in a way that no one can read except by his or her own perception.

The dream is a powerful entity- one that to many exists only in subconscious and unclear ways to the average person, the night-dreamer. The subconscious dream that one experiences during the moments between consciousness are a different breed of dreams altogether, though they are what some define them by. A sleeping dream is a labyrinth of conscious thoughts, dreams of the heart, fears and desires. Though these also define a person due to his or her reaction to the complexities of conscious thoughts and those suppressed during the day, they elucidate the meeting of mind and heart. Dreaming only at night can be dangerous, as recognizing the desires of the heart may not be clear if one is uncertain of what they are searching for- the elucidation of these dreams only occurs if one understands themselves and what they are searching for.

The criticism of dreamers is that these people focus their minds elsewhere, and too optimistically believe in the attainment of improbable goals. However, there is a reason that each dream is planted in the heart of each person. Though a dream may not come to fruition, or may seem unlikely even to its dreamer, a dream defines a person more fully than words can begin to. One who dreams during conscious moments possesses a connection between mind and heart, because of the withdrawal from the mind from the extrinsic to within oneself. Dreamers must continue to dream for the sake of changing the world and themselves- a dreamer cannot attain true happiness unless a dream is realized and attained in some form. Being called a dreamer is not a criticism, dreamers are the people who catalyze the greatest differences in the world. Though many begin to lose imagination as they shed the skin of their childhood, dreaming is essential for life to continue in a worthy manner. Continue to dream, because your dreams may be within your reach. As a child chases after a butterfly,  determination is necessary for success, as determination is necessary for the attainment of any dream.

The poetic community is defined by its dreams. We are credited with being a people of distant thoughts- ones that can only begin to be described in the inadequate vocabulary each of us possess. Dreamers are those that change the world due to their ideals and hopes. Continue to dream despite the suppressing forces outside- you never know how close they are to attainment. Please excuse the poor connections, this was written in a very short amount of time and was meant to be more of an outline- I will be adding more at a later time, if it seems worth it.

Thank you very much! I believe in dreams like I believe in tomorrow, and I am so happy to have found a kindred spirit!

Your description of the importance of waking dreams is the best that I have yet read. Kudos to you for reinforcing my faith in the power of day dreams. You so beautifully state that our limited vocabulary can hardly define the vast fountain of youth within the conscious mind when set free to flow in day dreams.

Beautifully written.
