A Moment of RecognitionA Poem by michaelaA poem for my Grandfather on this beautiful holiday, upon which we commemorate those who have served our country, and all those who have gone before us. I love you, Papa!Today, I smiled when I thought of you I regret remembering as infrequently as I do. You gave so much, and I love you so I wonder why you had to go The memories that we had shared Leave me wishing I had prepared To learn of a life without you here. I found it hard to restrain my tears A soldier and father with so much love I know you smile on me from above. I miss you now, as I missed you then And I long to see your face again. And I swear that I will not forget Because to you I owe a debt. I love you.
