Duck

Duck

A Poem by Michael Oliver
"

While walking to work, I every day cross a bridge over one of the rivers of the town, the other day I noticed a duck ear one of the banks - apparently sleeping.

"
A still is silent
Shape suspended -between
pebble - water - air
sunshine and shadow
The drake parades
Grey - dark purple
Round - oval - is
A drake asleep
Sheen of water
flows broken past
Reflections - Light - Thought
Never the same
Is silent as still
The eye is held
The mind inquires
A shape resolved
between
Pebble - Water - Air
