Immortal

Immortal

A Poem by Milena Grubor

On a cold winter night, her last breath was drawn,
No prayers were answered, no light before dawn.
Her silence fell heavy, her soul laid to rest,
In a grave of forgotten words, the unspoken confessed.

He waited in the dark, where time fractured slow,
The flame of his candle flickered, but could not glow.
His voice, lost in the wind, called for a return,
But the warmth he sought was a distant burn.

Day after day, his heart weighed in vain,
No comfort in living, only the constant pain.
His body withered, but his soul did not flee,
Each day a torment, each night a plea.

Years stretched like chains, his heart burdened with grief,
When he closed his eyes, releasing his soul in brief.
His final breath escaped, without fear or plea,
For she was the light, waiting beyond the sea.
