When All Hell Breaks Loose

When All Hell Breaks Loose

A Poem by Milena Grubor

In the crypt of thought, where silence screams,
I wander the ruins of fractured dreams.
A monster stirs in the depths of my mind,
Chained to the echoes I cannot unwind.

Each scar a script in a cursed design,
Each wound a whisper of sins not mine.
I drown in memories sharp and cold,
Reliving a tale too twisted, too old.

When all hell breaks loose, I’ll drift like mist,
A wraith in mourning, clenched in a fist.
The bells all toll in a shattered rhyme,
Their chimes unravel the threads of time.

Despair descends like a tomb-sealed gate,
Crushing my breath beneath its weight.
Hope lies buried, its petals torn,
No flower lives where hearts are worn.

By candle’s flicker, I lie awake,
Bound in sorrow that will not break.
The dawn arrives in a bleeding hue,
Another nightmare cloaked as new.

My dreams decay like frostbitten vines,
Entombed in dust, beneath dead pines.
The future fades in voiceless tones,
Its whispers echo through brittle bones.

Friendships broken, sharp as glass,
Buried deep where no saints pass.
Each embrace a silent goodbye,
A hollow oath beneath the sky.

I’ll strip the crosses from the wall,
Let sacred icons rot and fall.
No prayers remain upon my breath,
Only the lullaby of death.

When midnight strikes with cruel delight,
I will not fear the endless night.
I’ll clutch what’s left with failing hands,
And watch it slip like cursed sands.

And when the silence claims the day,
I’ll mourn the hours that slipped away.
Ten years of torment, dread, and flame,
What’s left of me won’t speak its name.

As this long year begins to close,
I’ll turn from light the cold world chose.
When all hell breaks loose, I’ll fold my wings,
And drift away as the requiem sings.
