You Played Me A Fool

You Played Me A Fool

A Poem by Milena Grubor

When stars bleed cold in endless night,

I taste the salt of fractured light.
A debt once sworn in blood and breath,
Now turned to silence, cold as death.

For years I called her soul my own,
But found a heart of glass and stone.
She traded trust for gilded flame,
A hollow mask, devoid of name.

She wore the cross, but never felt
The weight of faith beneath her belt.
For empty praise and shallow gain,
She bartered truth for hollow pain.

No saints remain behind her door,
Just shadows creeping evermore.
Once lit by fire, now drowned in shade,
A ghost of all the vows she made.

I stood a fool through fading years,
A lamb beneath the serpent’s sneers.
Now I release her to the dark,
A fractured soul, a dying spark.

Oh! My! What a gorgeous work of art!
The rhyming is not my favorite but it fits perfectly.
Great job!
