The Hollow Benediction

The Hollow Benediction

A Poem by Milena Grubor

Beneath a sky where angels weep,

She dwells within a silent keep.
No cradle rocked her silent cries,
Just fractured light and whispered lies.

Her youth was bartered, love undone,
A fragile rose in poisoned sun.
He bound her close with cold embrace,
Yet left no warmth, no child’s grace.

Her spirit cracked, a whispered plea,
She called for hope beyond the sea.
In darkness deep, her soul did stray,
But fought to find the narrow way.

Now in this sacred, hallowed place,
She wrestles dark with trembling grace.
The priests intone their ancient prayers,
Their voices rise through trembling airs.

“O Lord, who reigns in heaven high,
Save her, who’s caught in sorrow’s tie.
Grant rest, O God, to her weary soul,
And make her broken spirit whole.”

She strains against the silent night,
Her heart a beacon faint but bright.
Between the chains and mercy’s call,
She battles still to stand, not fall.

The candles burn, the incense swirls,
A hymn of hope in sacred curls.
Though darkness seeks to claim its toll,
Her faith persists, she fights for soul.

What a finely laid poem, great meter, a telling tale of faith and intention.
