Crossroads

Crossroads

A Poem by Milena Grubor

No more I recall the ghosts from the past,

Nor do I weep for the loves that couldn’t last.
Those buried deep within my chest,
Are long since gone, laid down to rest.

I walk with torches and eyes open wide,
Through halls where even demons hide.
My companion walks with blackest eyes,
Loyal and silent beneath all skies.

I hold the key to every door,
No lock remains, no need to implore.
Each war I face shall come undone,
For I was forged to rise, not run.

No dream shall lie buried inside my head,
I speak them loud, and I raise the dead.
Not bound by sleep, nor chained by fear,
I summon fate and draw it near.

With lungs that drink the fiercest air,
I fill the void, I strip it bare.
No need to guide the lost once more,
I rule myself, and nothing more.

The world will shift beneath my tread,
For I have died and danced with dread.
Yet here I stand, and still I rise,
Unbroken fire behind these eyes.

This is dark and kind of spooky but I like it. I like the rhythm and rhyme, the strong imagery. I really like some of your lines, one example: With lungs that drink the fiercest air. I will read some more of your stuff AND research where you originate as I confess to not recognizing the name of your homeland.
