When I’m Gone

When I’m Gone

A Poem by Milena Grubor

When I am gone, let silence fall,

No mourning bell, no whispered call.
Let crows attend, let wolves weep,
As I descend to dreamless sleep.

I walked a path no soul should tread,
With hollow eyes and heart long dead.
I loved, I bled, I knelt, I gave.
But found no mercy, just a grave.

These tears I shed were not of man,
But spirits damned from Heaven’s plan.
No angels came, no voices sang,
Just echoes where the hanged men hang.

I prayed once, young and full of grace,
But found no light, no warm embrace.
God watched me drown in slow despair,
If He exists, He wasn't there.

Now mock me, fate, your jest is done.
I smiled while death stole every sun.
A mimic mask I wore too long,
I’ve sung my last bittersweet song.

The earth will take what none would keep,
A soul too torn, too dark, too deep.
I seek no heaven, plead no grace,
Let devils come and take their place.
