A Mad World Waltz

A Mad World Waltz

A Poem by Milena Grubor

What blight unbinds this shattered day,
A hollow wretch that cannot pray?
They stalk the light with a cursed shade,
Decayed within the dreams they made.

This earth once breathed with sacred fire,
Now chokes on ash and funeral pyre.
Where lust and lechery reign supreme,
And sacred names dissolve to screams.

The righteous voice is torn and wrung,
Its dying dirge forever sung.
The daughters writhe neath demon kings,
Half-formed, unwhole, unholy things.

Whispers crawl from hollowed tombs,
Where silence sings and darkness looms.
Ghostly steps on cracked black glass,
Echo in this cursed morass.

Quite a dark poem, full of visual langusage that is rarely seen. Is like another world, dark, mystical and somehow cruel. Your final words appear to back up my thoughts, right or wrong. You could do oh so well with fantasy poetry. Have you tried it? Many thanks for sharing, Milena
