The Infernal Kiss

The Infernal Kiss

A Poem by Milena Grubor

He came with eyes like dying flame,
 A whisper low, a sinner’s name.
His kiss was cold, yet burned within,
The sweetest death, the purest sin.

The stars went blind, the heavens turned,
My heart forgot the God it learned.
Through veins of ash his hunger crept,
And I, unchained, yet darkly kept.

Then came the one of fire and prayer,
A holy wound, a cross to bear.
He cursed the dark, yet loved its bride,
And swore to burn what he desired.

Now torn between the flame and fang,
Where love is pain, and hearts must hang,
I bleed for both, divine, profane,
Two devils warring in my vein.
