"The Secrets" Written By Milena Grubor

"The Secrets" Written By Milena Grubor

A Poem by Milena Grubor

In halls where midnight’s whispers creep,
Wicked David walked with secrets deep.
His empty heart, a starving grave,
No kindly soul he cared to save.

Though praised by mother’s blinded sight,
He cloaked his sins beneath the night.
A saint she shaped within her mind,
Yet birthed a far more wayward kind.

Through yards of bones, cold and stark,
He toyed with life as though a spark.
A smile he wore, both pale and grim,
While mercy died inside of him.

Among the ward’s unholy cries,
He donned his coat of spotless lies.
Yet every thread betrayed the stain
Of something rotting in his brain.

He wandered forests, dusk to dawn,
Danced with men on the moonlit lawn.
For coin and kiss from stranger's hands,
He sold his name to drifting sands.

Though wealth he hoarded, hoarse with greed,
No sum could soothe his nameless need.
His mother still, in love confined,
Knows not what hunger haunts his mind.

But fate keeps ledgers none evade,
And truth stalks every debt unpaid.
One fateful eve shall break the seal,
And all his sins the night reveal.
